Cards I've been making

I've been making some cards and just thought it was time to share them with you. The lighting isn't the greatest, but you get the general idea. They all have sections made using the Cuttlebug and various assorted other materials, mostly from scrap packs and brad or flower assortments. Can you tell I'm not one for remembering brand names? I could probably look them up if anyone needs to know, just holler...

Find the green dot... or not

Ok, so tonight I was reading The Redhead Riter's blog and was fascinated by something she had posted, so here it is. Oh, please go read the whole story behind this exercise. She's an awesome gal with great insight in to life's incredible intricacies.
Try this:

Let your eyes follow the movement of the rotating pink dot. The dots will remain only one color, pink.

However if you stare at the black '+ ' in the center, the moving dot turns to green.

Now, concentrate on the black ' + ' in the center of the picture. After a short period of time, all the pink dots will slowly disappear and you will only see a single green dot rotating.

It's amazing how our brain works. There really is not a green dot and the pink ones really don't disappear.

Birthday Card with Cuttlebug Embossing

I made this card for my daughter's 27th Birthday. The stamps are Flower Girl and That Look by Stampabilities stamped with Rich Razzleberry Classic StampinUp ink on scrap pack cardstock. I added Flower Soft to the flowers the girls are holding and colored the adult lips with red pencil. The Cuttlebug embossing for the background and some of the words was done with borrowed folders, so I don't have the names handy right now, but think I might just need to buy them both because I love how this turned out. That background looks a bit like alligator leather doesn't it? I used three buttons from a jar found at an antique store, stacked them with pop dots on silk (or are they paper?) flowers after tying the bows with Karen Foster's pink scrapper's floss. When my husband saw the card he wanted to know how I made a stamped image of our daughter as a little girl, so I guess it turned out pretty good!

Mother's Day is all about crafts, right?

Well, crafts and being a mother of course, but then again, don't they go hand-in-hand? Here's living proof, the card my daughter made for me:

And isn't this package just absolutely gorgeous? The bag is reusable and just perfect for toting my lunch to work along with my thermos of coffee!

Those silk flowers had me fooled, thought they were real until I touched them! Inside was a stainless steel water bottle from Starbucks that has a flip-up lid attached to an internal straw. No more fumbling around trying to unscrew the cap while driving.

Isn't it beauuuuuutiful!?! I love the calming light teal color scheme. Kinda makes me want to just lick the bottle. Yeah I can be sort of weird sometimes!

Now for the ultra surprise from my awesome husband...... tada! (Hint: he is in tune to my crafting "needs")

You can only see part of it in this picture, but I wanted you to get a feel for the functionality of it. The drawers are woven bamboo and the metal is, well don't ask me what it is, but it's black and kind of rusted looking. I saw it at an antique mall and he secretly went back and bought it. Isn't he just the sweetest thing!

Here I am all happy showing off my gifts:

Yeah yeah, so don't say anything about how I need to transform my dining room too. I'll get around to that when I'm done with my craft room and you know how THAT's going! Oh and by the way, the new shelves are currently housed right outside the door to my craft room because I haven't decided where to put them yet (shhh, don't tell anyone, but honestly there isn't any room until I rearrange something...)

Still working on my room

I am still in the process of organizing my craft room, just taking some time off to do other things. Last weekend my sisters, niece and daughter had a sleep-over so we could all work on crafts, cut and color hair and eat lots of good stuff. I got a good start on my angel dog's memory album and promise to post pictures soon.

Butterflies are a sign of transformation

Seeing butterflies reminds me of the transformation taking place in my craft room, so when I saw this on one of the blogs I follow, Misty's Musings I just had to share it with everyone. Good job Misty!
